Hello,

I’m a composer working in rural Northern California. I studied music at CalArts with Wolfgang von Schweinitz, Robert Wannamaker, and Michael Jon Fink. 

My music primarily explores the harmonic series and its musical implications. I’m searching & listening for what sound is trying to say about itself, considering what the limits of our instruments and bodies are, and then working to capture those essences in notation for performers to then communicate to those who are listening. 

The harmonic series is a natural system, and I often turn to other natural systems to inform how I understand and work with the harmonic series. The redwood forests, fern canyons, oak woodlands, and river systems surrounding my home serve as guides for musical thinking, and the self-replicative, iterative, and elaborative behaviors of their animal, plant, and fungal communities provide templates for compositional technique.
